Green Construction: One of AP Thailand’s Initiatives Emphasizing a Commitment to Sustainable Development (ESG)

AP Thailand Public Company Limited has partnered with the Cement and Green Solution Business under SCG to reaffirm their commitment to advancing the green construction industry. This collaboration focuses on environmentally friendly business practices aligned with the Low Carbon Economy concept to achieve a mutual greenhouse gas emission target by 2050. Under a holistic Green Construction concept, the initiative aims to transform valueless materials into valuable assets, fostering collaboration towards sustainability by paying attention to every construction process, particularly in cement and ready-mix concrete, which are core materials in the real estate development industry.

With that in mind, AP has confidently chosen to use Low-Carbon Structural Cement, a new-standard cement innovation, and CPAC Low Carbon Concrete, both from SCG, who focuses on reducing carbon dioxide emissions in an environmentally friendly production process. Last year, AP successfully reduced carbon dioxide emissions by more than 2,355,807 kilograms, equivalent to planting as many as 261,756 trees.

Certified with the first hydraulic cement standard in Thailand, SCG’s low-carbon structural cement, the new-standard cement, offers sturdiness and durability, providing better or equal compressive strength compared to general Portland cement. The production of one ton of hydraulic cement can reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the process by up to 0.05 tons, while CPAC Low Carbon Concrete, an eco-friendly formula, can reduce the CO2 emissions by up to 170 kilograms per cubic meter (m³) of concrete, equivalent to planting 17 trees for every 10 cubic meters.
